First delivered to Purdue Airlines in July 1969, MSN 47376 would join the Republic Airlines fleet two years later in 1971. She would later fly for Republic, Northwest Airlines and finally Delta Air Lines after several mergers. Her last revenue flight was NW1740 in May of 2008 from Nashville to Detroit before being ferried to Marana, AZ where she sits among company DC-9s in front of the beautiful Tortolita and Catalina Mountain ranges.

I'm not a fan of the mustard yellow skies of 'golden hour', the light that's available before sunset. The earth's atmosphere filters out most of the shorter wavelengths of visible light, & leaves the photographer with an abundance of red, but this National Airlines Boeing 747-412F made her 1st visit to Melbourne landing 1 minute past sunset. It's produced an interesting effect on the intricate landing gear of the increasing rare Boeing 747. Now 28 years old, she was built for Singapore Airlines.
